KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party (NUP) has demanded an answer from Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli regarding the arrest of its patron, Resham Chaudhary.
Speaking in the meeting of the House of Representatives on Monday, Nagarik Unmukti lawmaker Lalbir Chaudhary said the party would be compelled to exit the ruling coalition if the government failed to provide a response in the next session.
“On April 29, while discussions on unification between Nagarik Unmukti and the Janamat Party were ongoing, our patron Resham Chaudhary was arrested and taken to Dillibazar prison,” he said. “The arrest warrant has been deemed fraudulent. Still, the government has remained silent on the matter. If the Prime Minister does not clarify this matter in Tuesday’s session, we will have no option but to withdraw from the coalition government.”
Chaudhary was released on the same day.
