Yari customs in Hilsa resumes operation after four months

HUMLA: The Yari Customs Office in the northern Humla has resumed operations after a four-month winter shutdown.

The office, which shut down i the last week of December due to extreme cold weather conditions, has resumed operations with the return of Office Chief Ramraj Jaisi to Hilsa. “The office has been operational since Sunday,” Jaisi said.

The road to district headquarters Simkot to Hilsa is very difficult. One needs to cross the Nara Pass (4,620 meters). Also, the road remains inoperable during winter when snow blankets the entire area.

The Hilsa-Simkot Road Project is clearing snow accumulated at Nara Pass, raising hopes that the transportation service between Simkot and Hilsa would resume soon.

According to the customs office, imports from China will resume once transport service resumes on the road.
