NPC, TAC continue unbeaten run in PM Cup

KATHMANDU: Nepal Police Club (NPC) and Tribhuvan Army Club (TAC) continued their unbeaten run in the PM Cup Men’s National Cricket Tournament, defeating Sudurpashchim Province and Nepal Armed Police Force (APF) Club, respectively, on Monday.

Lumbini Province also extended its unbeaten run to three with a victory over Gandaki Province.

NPC defeated Sudurpashchim by 61 runs in Match No. 21 at the Siddhartha Cricket Stadium in Bhairahawa. Batting first, NPC was all out for 160 runs in 47 overs on a slow pitch. The departmental side, however, bundled out Sudurpashchim for 99 runs in 28.3 overs.

In Match No. 22, TAC defeated APF Club by three wickets at the ExtraTech Oval in Rupandehi. Batting first, APF Club was all out for 141 runs in 42.3 overs as all its batters, except Sandeep Jora (65), fell cheaply. TAC overcame the target in 42.5 overs, losing seven wickets. TAC was down to 87/7 at the mid-way point. However, Kushal Malla (31) and Sompal Kami (22) took the team through with seven overs remaining.

Lumbini Province recorded its fourth win in five matches, defeating Madhesh Province by 83 runs at the Deukhuri Cricket Stadium in Lamahi. Batting first, Lumbini was all out for 158 runs in 46 overs. Aakash Tripathi (73), Krishna Karki (33) and Captain Dev Khanal (16) were the only batters who reached double figures for the TAC. In reply, Lumbini folded for 75 runs in 26.5 overs. Ramesh Karki claimed four wickets for Lumbini, while Biprason KC claimed three.
