
KATHMANDU: Air services have been affected on Friday due to adverse weather conditions.
According to the Tribhuvan International Airport Civil Aviation Office (TIA CAO), several flights have been impacted due to poor visibility.
Rinji Sherpa, the spokesperson for the TIA CAO, said Qatar Airways flight QR652, which was coming to Kathmandu from Doha, has been diverted to Kolkata.
A Sichuan Airlines flight coming from Chengdu was diverted to Lhasa. The carrier’s Airbus A319 aircraft entered Nepal, remained on a holding pattern above Nijgadh for some time, and then diverted to Lhasa.
Similarly, Nepal Airlines flight coming to Kathmandu from Malaysia has been diverted to New Delhi.
Domestic flights have also been affected by the weather. Flights from Kathmandu to Pokhara, Bharatpur, Nepalgunj, Rajbiraj, Biratnagar, Janakpur, Bhadrapur, and Bhairahawa, among others, have been canceled or rescheduled. Most flights have been delayed.
According to Sherpa, most flights have been operating normally since noon.
