KATHMANDU: Rastriya Panchayat member Nanimaiya Dahal passed away in Kathmandu on Monday. She was 92.
Dahal, who was receiving treatment for pneumonia, passed away at Dirghayu Hospital Kathmandu, Ramesh Aryal, former chairperson of Ward-6 of Gorkaneshwar Municipality, told RSS news agency.
Dahal was elected as an independent candidate to the Rastriya Panchayat, the legislative body during the Panchayat era, 1981. She secured more than double the votes of her opponent, Jog Mehar Shrestha.
Dahal will be cremated at the Pashupatinath Aryaghat crematorium on Monday evening.
