KATHMANDU: A total of 107 Nepali workers staying illegally in Saudi Arabia have been granted exit visas.
According to the Embassy of Nepal in Riyadh, this latest batch adds to the ongoing process of providing exit visas to undocumented workers. The embassy has urged Nepali workers, who have obtained exit visas, to return home at the earliest.
The Saudi government has been facilitating the repatriation of illegal foreign workers through its exit visa scheme. According to the embassy, undocumented Nepali workers, who have submitted forms at the embassy, can check the status of their exit visa online by entering their Iqama or passport number. The applicants receive a notification about their exit visa via text on their mobile phones. They are then required to present this message to Saudi immigration to obtain their exit papers.
The embassy has advised Nepalis receiving exit visas to verify that the passport or travel document number mentioned in the exit visa matches their actual travel document before purchasing airline tickets.
The exit visa process is free of cost. However, workers are responsible for arranging their flight tickets to return to Nepal.
