KATHMANDU: Actors Bipin Karki and Swastima Khadka emerged as the top performers at the National Film Awards 2080 BS, securing the Best Actor and Best Actress awards, respectively. Karki was awarded for his role in ‘Prasad 2’, while Khadka received the honor for her performance in ‘Dimag Kharab’.
President Ram Chandra Paudel gave away the awards amid a colorful ceremony at the Office of the President on Wednesday.
The awards celebrate excellence in the Nepali cinema industry across multiple categories. ‘Bulaki’ was crowned the Best Film of the year. The film also won individual awards for cinematography and writing.
Similarly, veteran actress Chaitya Devi Singh was honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
A seven-member jury led by Badri Bahadur Adhikari selected the awardees.

- Best Indigenous/Ethnic Language Film: ‘Lojima’ (Limbu)
- Best Commercial Film: ‘Jaari’
- Encouragement Award: Swastima Karki (for ‘Tulki’)
- Special Film Awards:
- ‘Satidevi’ (directed by Laxman Subedi)
- ‘Sugup’ (Limbu language film)
- ‘Markali’ (Gurung language film)
- Special Contribution Award: 11 actors, producers, distributors etc
- Posthumous Special Contribution Award:
- Suryaman Tuladhar (technical staff who died in a road accident in 2061 BS)
- Award: Rs 50,000
