KATHMANDU: Seven tourism and hospitality sector companies are awaiting permission of the Securities Board of Nepal (Sebon) to launch their public issue.
Buoyed by the excellent performance of hospitality companies listed on the Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse), five hotels and two cable car companies are looking to launch their initial public offering (IPO) to raise capital.
Six hospitality-sector companies, including two cable car projects, are currently listed on Nepse. They include Soaltee Hotel Ltd, Taragaon Regency Hotel Ltd, Oriental Hotels Ltd, Chandragiri Hills Ltd, Kalinchowk Darshan Ltd and City Hotel Ltd. Shares of these companies are in high demand in the secondary market.
Shares of Taragaon Regency Hotel Ltd (Hyatt Regency) were traded at Rs 1,148 per unit on Tuesday. The face value of these shares is Rs 100. Likewise, shares of Kalinchowk Darshan, Oriental Hotel (Radisson Kathmandu) and Chandragiri Hills, City Hotel (Hyatt Place) and Soaltee Hotel Ltd (The Soaltee Kathmandu) were traded at Rs 1,099, Rs 932, Rs 955, Rs 958 and Rs 562 per unit, respectively.
According to Sebon, five hotels – Orchid Holding (Hotel Crowne Imperial), Akama Hotel, Thamel Plaza Hotel and Suites (Ramada Encore), Apex Hospitality (Apex Mall and Siddhartha Hotel) and Hotel Forest Inn Pvt Ltd – and two cable car companies – RKD Holding (Bandipur Cable Car) and Ananpurna Cable Car – have applied to launch their initial public offering.
Apex Hospitality has applied to issue 2.4 million units of shares with a total value of Rs 240 million. Similarly, Hotel Forest Inn Pvt Ltd is looking to float 9.8 million units valued at Rs 980 million.
Orchid Holdings Pvt Ltd has applied to issue 11.5 million units of shares with plans to raise Rs 1.15 billion through its IPO. Likewise, Annapurna Cable Car is seeking approval to issue 3.1 million units of shares with a total value of Rs 310 million. RKD Holding has also applied to issue 3.06 million units of shares to raise Rs 306 million.
Similarly, Akama Hotel Pvt Ltd has applied to float 4.5 million units of public shares with a face value of Rs 50 each to raise Rs 225 million.
Thamel Plaza Hotel and Suites is looking to raise Rs 100 million by floating one million units of public shares.
