Baglung accident: All five deceased identified

POKHARA: Local authorities have confirmed the identity of all five people who died in a road accident in Baglung district on Monday morning.

Five people died when a pick-up truck met with an accident in Baglung district on Monday morning. One person is injured.

The pick-up coming to district headquarters Baglung Bazaar from Chhisti in Jaidi Municipality-5 fell off the road near the border of Chhisti and Jaidi in Jaimini-7, according to Bimal Srish, Ward Chairperson of Jaimini-8. “The vehicle fell approximately 500 meters below the road,” he added.

The deceased have been identified as Mahendra Pun (41), the driver, the van driver, Rashmi Shris (20), Nandakali Pun (70), Niraj Shris (17) and Kul Prasad Shris (73). All five died on the spot.

Ganga Bahadur Shris (45), the son of the deceased Kul Prasad, was injured in the accident. He has sustained injuries to various parts of his body. Ward Chair Bimal Shris said preparations were underway to send him to Pokhara for further treatment.

The exact cause of the accident has not been determined. Ward Chairperson Shris suspects that steering failure on the unpaved road might have caused the accident.
