KATHMANDU: The death toll from the recent floods and landslides has reached 246, while 18 are missing and 178 are injured.
Rishiram Tiwari, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Home Affairs, said a total of 17,174 individuals have been rescued so far from disaster-hit areas. Of the total casualties, 139 deaths occurred in Bagmati Province alone.
According to the home ministry, relief funds have been provided to 176 affected families under the ‘Disaster Victim Rescue and Relief Guidelines, 2020’. Cash assistance and relief materials are being distributed to the affected families, Tiwari added.
The ministry also stated that efforts are underway to clear obstructions on various highways or establish alternative routes.
