19 National Assembly members sworn in [In Pictures]

KATHMANDU: Nineteen newly-elected National Assembly members were sworn in on Monday.

National Assembly Vice Chairman Urmila Aryal administered the oath of office and secrecy to the new members amid a ceremony organized at the Lhotse Hall of the Parliament Building.

Krishna Prasad Sitaula, Ananda Prasad Dhungana, Bishnu Devi Pudasaini, Jit Jung Basnet, Padam Bahadur Pariyar, Kiran Babu Shrestha, Bishnu Kumari Sapkota, Krishna Bahadur Rokaya, Narayan Dutta Bhatta and Baldev Bohoara of Nepali Congress; Shrikrishna Prasad Adhikari, Manarupa Sharma, Jhakku Prasad Subedi, Bishnu Bahadur Bishwakarma and Renu Chand of CPN (Maoist Center); Ghanshyam Rijal Bishwkarma, Sabitra Malla from CPN (Maoist Center); Rukmini Koirala of CPN-UML; and Pooja Chaudhary of Janata Samajbadi Party were elected to the upper house through the vote held on January 25.

Twenty members of the upper house, including National Assembly Chairperson Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, completed their six-year term on Sunday.  President Ram Chandra Poudel will now nominate one member to the National Assembly on the recommendation of the Council of Ministers.
