KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its losses for a third straight session, closing the first trading day of the week 11.78 points lower at 1,960.30 points on Sunday.
Share prices of only 67 companies advanced on the day, while 173 declined, and eight remained unchanged.
The Nepse index, which had shed more than 25 points at one point, made some recovery and erased most of the losses. However, it took a deep dive toward the close to end the session 0.59% lower.
Sonapur Minerals and Oil Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 132.05 million traded. Shivam Cement and Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd followed with turnovers of Rs 90.38 million and Rs 83.01 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, Manufacturing & Processing and Hotels & Tourism groups posted nominal gains, while all other sub-indices ended the session in the red. The biggest loss came from the Trading sub-index, which was down by 2.52%.
A total of 5.57 million units of shares worth Rs 2.08 billion were traded on the bourse on Sunday.
