KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a three-day winning run, losing 21.67 points to end trading at 2,097.93 points on Wednesday.
Although the benchmark index posted gains initially, hitting an intra-day high of 2,131.29 points, it failed to continue the momentum and eventually ended the day 1.02% lower.
Share prices of 215 companies declined while 29 advanced, and three remained unchanged on the day. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd continued to top the list in terms of turnovers on Wednesday as well, with shares worth Rs 638.78 million traded. Next on the list were NRN Infrastructure and Development Ltd and Ngadi Group Power Ltd with turnovers of Rs 260.17 million and Rs 242.64 million, respectively.
Except for the Manufacturing and Processing group, all trading groups posted losses on the day. The biggest loss came from Hotels & Tourism sub-index which came down by 2.04%. Next were Development Bank and Finance sub-indices with losses of 1.93% and 1.91%, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 5.29 billion were traded on the bourse through 95,645 transactions.
