KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index extended its gains for a third straight day as it ended trading 14.88 points higher at 2,119.61 points on Tuesday.
Nepse index has added 35.51 points over the past three sessions after ending a seven-day slump during which it lost 91.08 points.
Share prices of 152 companies advanced on the day, while 85 declined and 10 remained unchanged. Three companies saw their share prices hit the positive circuit of 20% on Tuesday. Himalayan Reinsurance Company Ltd continued to lead the chart of companies with the best turnover with Rs 752.78 million worth of shares traded. Ngadi Group Power Ltd and Nepal Reinsurance Company Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 222.03 million and Rs 207.84 million, respectively.
Among trading groups, four ended the day in the red while the remaining nine posted gains. The biggest gain came from the ‘Others’ sub-index, which went up by 3.56%. Trading, and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices followed suit with gains of 1.76% and 1.59%, respectively.
Total turnover on the bourse improved by more than Rs 1 billion as shares worth Rs 5.54 billion were traded on the bourse on Tuesday compared to Rs 4.51 billion on Monday.
