It could be difficult to find doctors in Nepal after five years: Health minister

KATHMANDU: Minister for Health and Population, Mohan Bahadur Basnet, has said that it could be difficult to find doctors in Nepal in the next five years.

Addressing the 28th Anniversary of the Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center on Monday, Basnet said he feels it would be difficult to find doctors and nurses in Nepal after five years. “There are some shortcomings in our policies and weaknesses on our part,” Basnet said. “We need to address them to increase the number of health professionals in the country.”

Basnet said health professionals were migrating out of the country lured by better pay and better education prospects for their children.

He also said the number of health professionals should in created in proportion to population growth.
