KATHMANDU: Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA) Customs Office has arrested an individual with 499 grams of gold.
Khangedra Darji of Jhapa landed in Kathmandu from Doha on a Himalayan Airlines flight with the gold on Sunday morning.
According to Dr. Tok Raj Pandey, chief of the TIA Customs Office, the man was carrying 499 grams of gold in liquid form. “We arrested him acting on a tip-off,” Dr. Pandey told the RSS news agency.
Pandey said the office was investigating whether the man smuggled the gold himself or if he was just a carrier.
