Dr Rabi Malla appointed chief of Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center

KATHMANDU: The government has appointed Dr. Rabi Malla as the Executive Director of Shahid Gangalal National Heart Center.

The cabinet meeting held on Wednesday took the decision based on the recommendation of the Ministry of Health and Population, according to Minister for Communication and Information Technology, Rekha Sharma.

Dr. Malla has been serving as the officiating executive director of the specialty hospital providing cardiology services since Dr. Chandra Mani Adhikari completed his four-year term on December 25.

Cardiac surgeon Dr. Raamesh Koirala had also expressed interest in the position.

Dr. Malla is believed to be close to Dr. Arju Rana, the spouse of Nepali Congress (NC) President Sher Bahadur Deuba. NC is an important player in the ruling coalition.
