KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal is leaving for Kampala, Uganda, on January 18, leading a Nepali delegation to the 19th Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) Summit.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Minister NP Saud, Foreign Secretary Sewa Lamsal, high-ranking government officials, and Dahal’s personal secretary Ganga Dahal will be in the delegation.
Apart from attending official programs of the Summit, Dahal is scheduled to hold separate meetings with heads of state and heads of government of different countries.
Likewise, Foreign Minister Saud will attend foreign minister-level meetings on January 18 and 19.
The NAM Summit will assess the report presented by the foreign minister’s meeting and also review agendas endorsed by the 2019 NAM Summit. The Summit will conclude with the issuance of the Kampala Declaration.
Nepal is a founding member of NAM and has been actively involved in the movement since its inception in 1961.
Meanwhile, Foreign Secretary Lamsal will represent Nepal in the Third South Summit.
