KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index recorded gains of 20.62 points to close trading at 2,080.12 on Tuesday.
The benchmark index entered positive territory as soon as trading commenced and soon reached an intra-day high of 2,098.02 points. However, it experienced a slump thereafter and ultimately ended the session with a 1% gain.
The unit prices of 165 scrips rose on the day, while 77 declined, and five remained unchanged. Share prices of 11 companies hit the positive circuit of 10%. Sonapur Minerals and Oils Ltd recorded the highest turnover of Rs 214.94 million, followed by Nepal Infrastructure Bank Ltd and Soaltee Hotels Ltd with total turnovers of Rs 197.37 million and Rs 175.38 million, respectively.
Among the trading groups, 10 sub-indices posted gains, while three ended the day in the red. The Development Bank sub-index recorded the highest gain of 5.21%, followed by the Finance and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices with gains of 3.64% and 2.72%, respectively. Three sub-indices experienced minimal losses.
Shares worth Rs 6.11 billion were traded on the bourse through 104,619 transactions on Tuesday. The total turnover is nearly Rs 1.5 billion higher compared to the previous session.
