Nepse ends six-day slide, gains 29.9 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) returned to winning ways after a six-day slump, posting a gain of 29.90 points to close at 2,058 points on Wednesday.

The benchmark index lost 111.77 points over the past six sessions.

Trading opened on Wednesday with the benchmark index at 2,030.95 points. Although the benchmark index took a slide initially, dropping to an intra-day low of 2,024.38, it picked up gradually and ultimately ended 1.37% higher.

Share prices of 209 companies advanced on the day, while 30 declined, and six remained unchanged. Nine companies saw their share prices hit a positive circuit of 10% on the day. Sonapur Oil and Minerals Ltd logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 266.39 million traded. Next on the list were Shivam Cement and IME Life Insurance Company Ltd with turnovers of Rs 233.55 million and Rs 157.01 million, respectively.

All trading groups ended the day in green, with the maximum gain coming from the Hydropower sub-index, which was up by 3.08%. The Hotels & Tourism and Investment sub-indices followed closely, which were up by 2.70% and 2.14%, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 4.04 billion were traded on the bourse on Wednesday through 96,252 transactions.
