NEA cuts power supply to two more industries

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Electricity Authority cut off power supply to two industries on Sunday due to non-payment of dedicated feeders and trunk line tariffs.

The Parasi Distribution Center of the NEA cut off the power supply to Sarbottam Cement and Laxmi Steels on Sunday. According to the NEA, the outstanding dues of Sarbottam Cement and Laxmi Steels stand at Rs 850 million and Rs 620 million, respectively.

Both industries are promoted by the Saurabh Group.

On Friday, the NEA cut off the power supply to four industries – Jagamba Steels, Reliance Spanning Mills, Arghakhanchi Cement, and Ghorahi Cement.

NEA swung into action after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal directed the utility to recover outstanding dues by cutting off their power supply.

Jagadama Steels alone owes Rs 4.14 billion in unpaid electricity bills to the NEA. Reliance, Ghorahi Cement, and Arghakhanchi Cement owe Rs 1.94 billion, Rs 1.36 billion, and Rs 1.3 billion to the NEA.
