Suspension on UML lawmaker Koiri lifted

KATHMANDU: Speaker Dev Raj Ghimire has lifted the suspension on CPN-UML lawmaker Laxmi Mahato Koiri.

According to a notice published by the Federal Parliament Secretariat on Sunday, Speaker Ghimire revoked the suspension as per Rule 248(5) of the House of Representatives Rules, 2023.

“Since lawmaker Koiri has submitted an application requesting the revocation of suspension, enclosing letters from the Mahottari District Court confirming his acquittal of murder and arson charges, the suspension has been lifted,” the notice reads.

Koiri was accused of killing Assistant Sub Inspector of Nepal Police Thaman BK.

Speaker Ghimire had suspended him on May 2.
