Five dead, nine injured in Rukum West tractor accident

KATHMANDU: Five individuals died and nine others were injured in a tractor accident in Rukum West district on Wednesday evening.

According to Distrct Police Office, Rukum West, the tractor carrying a cargo of corrugated sheets fell off the road in a hairpin bend near Chyarigaun Khola in Adhbiskot Rural Municipality. The tractor was heading to Ghartigaun village in Athbiskot-8.

The deceased has been identified as Lok Bahadur Shahi (46) and his wife Chuki, Dhanaram Sarki (48), Bhardar Sarki (53) and Nirmala Sarki (47). All the deceased are from Athbiskot-10.

Khadka Bahadur Pun (41), Ramesh Sarki (38), Dal Bahadur Pun (14), Kumar Gharti (56), Rama Gurung (34), Jagbir Sarki (51), Jaya Bahadur Gharti (36), Mane Sarki (58) and Madan Pun (42) were injured in the accident. They are receiving treatment at Athbiskot City Hospital.

Tractor driver, Gopal B (21) of Athbiskot-9, is on the run, according to police.
