Jhapa, Kathmandu share spoils in NSL

KATHMANDU: Jhapa FC and Kathmandu RayZrs played out a dour goalless draw in the Nepal Super League at the Dasharath Stadium on Monday.

Although both sides created opportunities, they lacked the finishing touch and had to share points. The reigning champion, Kathmandu RayZrs, is still undefeated after three games with a win and two draws, while Jhapa FC has two points after three games – two draws and one defeat.

Captain Hisub Thapaliya had the opportunity to give Kathmandu the lead in the 14th minute. However, his weak shot failed to trouble Jhapa keeper Stefan Cupic.

Jhapa scored in the 27th minute of the match. However, the referee disallowed the goal, ruling that Kathmandu keeper Abhishek Baral was fouled.

Jhapa had the opportunity to score in the 64th minute. However, Kathmandu goalie Abhishek saved Samandar Ochilov’s powerful strike, which deflected off defender Anjan Rai.

Kathmandu made a beautiful move in the 85th minute of the game. Substitute Rajiv Lochan created a beautiful pass for Junior Onguene. But Jhapa keeper Cupic saved the Cameroonian marksman’s shot.

Kathmandu was without its captain Anjan Bista in the match against Jhapa. Anjan took a knock during a match against FC Chitwan on November 28.
