KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index snapped a four-day losing run to post a gain of 21.30 points to close trading at 1,847.54 points on Monday.
The market opened for trading at 1,826.68 points and hit on the green trajectory. The benchmark index posted momentum throughout the session to ultimately close the day 1.16% lower. Share prices of 199 companies appreciated during the day’s trading, while 32 declined and six remained unchanged.
All the trading groups posted gains on the day with the maximum gains coming from the Hotels & Tourism sub-index which was up by 3.73%. Next on the list were Trading and Non-life Insurance groups which ended the day 2.75% and 2.36%, respectively, higher.
Share prices of Hathaway Investment Nepal Ltd and Siddhartha Premier Insurance Ltd hit the positive circuit on the day. Soaltee Hotels Limited logged the highest turnover of the day with shares worth Rs 64.32 million traded. Sonapur Minerals & Oil Ltd and Hathaway Investment Npeal Ltd were next with turnovers of Rs 56.30 million and Rs 37.83 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 938.93 million were traded on the secondary market on Monday. Total market capitalization, the total worth of listed shares, was recorded at Rs 2.84 trillion.
