Nepse down by 14.29 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index returned to its losing ways, recording a loss of 14.29 points to close trading at 1,864.40 points on Tuesday.

The benchmark Nepse index had posted a modest gain of 3.04 points on Monday. Trading began on Tuesday with the benchmark Nepse index at 1,878.29 points. However, it dipped soon after the trading session commenced and continued to slide, ultimately ending the day 0.76% lower.

All the trading groups ended the day in the red, with the largest loss coming from the Life Insurance sub-index, which fell by 1.46%. The Development Bank and Microfinance sub-indices followed with losses of 0.85% and 0.84%, respectively.

Surya Jyoti Life Insurance Company recorded the highest transaction of the day, with shares worth Rs 17.01 million traded. Following closely were Standard Chartered Bank Nepal Ltd and Nabil Bank Ltd, with turnovers of Rs 16.53 million and Rs 14.87 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 571.48 million were traded on the bourse on Tuesday through 25,625 transactions. Market capitalization reached Rs 2.87 trillion on the day.
