KATHMANDU: Butter lamps were lit at the Bouddhanath Stadium in Kathmandu on Tuesday to pray for the eternal peace of 10 Nepali students who lost their lives in the Hamas attack in Israel earlier this week.

The Shalom Club Nepal, an organization of Nepalis who have returned to the country after studying and working in Israel, organized the event. Participants lit butter lamps and candles and prayed for the eternal peace of the departed souls.

The 10 students were part of a 49-member group of students of Sudurpashchim University, who had left for Israel last month, under the ‘earn and learn’ program. Israeli security forces successfully rescued 32 of them from different bunkers and a few students are receiving treatment at different hospitals in Israel.
