Curfew enforced in Nepalgunj

KATHMANDU: The District Administration Office (DAO) in Banke has imposed an indefinite curfew in Nepalgunj starting from 1 pm on Tuesday.

Issuing a notice, the Banke administration said the curfew will remain in effect until further notice, covering the area from the Rapti bridge in the east to the Indrapur intersection of Khajura Road in the west, from the Ranjha intersection in the north to the Jamuhana border point in the south. The notice explicitly states that no individuals are allowed to gather, hold mass meetings, conduct processions, or roam the streets within these specified areas.

The Banke administration has clarified in the notice that this curfew order was enforced to incidents like damage to public property, stone pelting, and chaotic activities that have occurred in Nepalgunj. It has emphasized that the curfew aims to prevent any further untoward incidents during the protest rally organized by the Muslim community, who are protesting against social media posts targeting them.
