KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its gain for a second straight session on Tuesday as the benchmark index went up by 16.24 points to close at 1,985.43 points.
The market opened for trading with the Nepse index at 1,985.43 points on Tuesday. Although the index fell initially after posting a nominal gain, the market logged significant gains in the last trading hour of the day to eventually close 0.82% higher.
Share prices of 182 companies advanced on the day, while 36 declined and 10 remained unchanged.
Except for Hotels & Tourism and Trading sub-indices, all trading groups ended the day in green. Hydropower sub-index posted the biggest gain of 3.21% followed by Finance and Development Bank sub-indices which were up by 1.95% and 1.48%, respectively.
A total of 4.33 million units of shares worth Rs 1.17 billion were traded on the bourse on Tuesday. Total market capitalization reached Rs 2.99 trillion.
