KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) extended its losing streak for a third consecutive day as the benchmark index lost 29.81 points to close at 1,960.78 points on Sunday.
The market opened for trading at 1,990.82 points. The index consistently lost value throughout the session to ultimately end the first trading day of the week 1.49% lower. All the trading groups closed in red, with the largest decline seen in the Hotels & Tourism sub-index, which fell by 3.03%. The Hydropower sub-index also declined by 2.33%, while both Life Insurance and Non-life Insurance sub-indices fell by 2% each.
Share prices of only eight companies advanced on the day, while the share values of 212 companies declined, and eight remained unchanged.
In terms of turnover, Soaltee Hotels Ltd recorded the highest turnover at Rs 38.88 million, followed by IME Life Insurance and City Hotel Ltd with turnovers of Rs 37.64 million and Rs 37.40 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 1.18 billion were traded on the bourse through 4,053,368 transactions on Sunday.
