KATHMANDU: Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSP) has decided to field its candidates for the election to select chairpersons of parliamentary committees.

RSP Whip Nisha Dangi stated that the party’s parliamentary party meeting held on Friday decided to nominate its candidates for the election. However, she mentioned that the party has not yet finalized the candidates.

“The meeting also welcomed the Supreme Court’s interim order to not implement the Local Infrastructure Development Partnership Program,” she added.

The election for chairpersons of parliamentary committees is scheduled for 3 pm on August 28.

The ruling parties and the main opposition CPN-UML have already allocated the 12 chairperson posts among themselves, by bypassing the RSP and Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

Nepali Congress will lead four committees, UML will have chairpersons for three committees, and CPN (Maoist Center) will head two committees. Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), CPN (Unified Socialist), and Janamat Party will each head one committee.
