Nepse snaps two-day losing run, posts gains of 17.69 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) rebounded from a two-day losing streak to record a modest gain of 17.69 points, closing the trading session at 1,990.29 points on Tuesday.

The market opened for trading at 1,998.14 points and immediately took an upward trajectory. Although the benchmark Nepse index later dropped to an intraday low of 1,990.57 points, it reversed the losses and ultimately ended the day 0.88% higher.

All trading groups posted gains on the day, with the maximum increase seen in the Finance sub-index, which was up by 2.21%. The Hydropower and Manufacturing & Processing sub-indices were next, posting gains of 1.66% and 1.6%, respectively.

Kumari Bank Ltd (Promoter Shares) recorded the highest turnover of Rs 285.91 million, followed by United Ajod Insurance Ltd and Shivam Cement Ltd with turnovers of Rs 54.19 million and Rs 46.28 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 1.33 billion were traded on the bourse on Tuesday through 34,508 transactions. The total market capitalization was recorded at Rs 3.01 trillion.
