Nepse logs loss of 28.59 points

KATHMANDU: The Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) went down by of 28.59 points to close trading at 2,077.58 points on Tuesday.

Although the benchmark index had shown hopes of recovery on Monday, snapping a five-day losing streak and posting a nominal growth of 5.84 points, Nepse shed points again on Tuesday.

The market opened for trading at 2,106.06 points. Although the index logged initial gains, it soon followed a downward trajectory and ultimately ended the day 1.35% lower.

Except for the Mutual Fund group, which posted a nominal gain of 0.35%, all other trading groups ended the day in red, with the maximum loss coming from Non-Life Insurance, which was down by 2.47%. Following closely were the Finance and Hotels & Tourism sub-indices, which were down by 2.43% and 2.16%, respectively.

Upper Tamakoshi Hydropower Ltd recorded the highest turnover of the day, with shares worth Rs 87.40 million traded. Next on the list were Shivam Cement and Soaltee Hotel Ltd, with total turnovers of Rs 70.92 million and Rs 62.65 million, respectively.

Shares worth Rs 1.92 billion were traded on the secondary market on Tuesday.
