KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has said he wishes he won’t have made those remarks about Pritam Singh.
Providing clarification about his speech in the House of Representatives on Monday, Dahal stated that he got carried away while speaking at the book launch event of Singh.
Speaking at the launching ceremony of the book last week, Dahal said Pritam Singh worked very hard to make him Prime Minister.
“I was a bit emotional. I wish I hadn’t spoken those words. I spoke impulsively. Does it go against the state?” Dahal questioned. “As the Prime Minister, I should not have made those remarks. However, I spoke as Gyanu’s father,” Dahal referred to his daughter Gyanu KC, who passed away in 2014.
According to Dahal, Gyanu stayed at Singh’s house in India while undergoing treatment.
Dahal further mentioned that Singh is not a political figure and does not hold the power to appoint someone as the Prime Minister. “He doesn’t have that influence. A few days ago, he himself stated that he is not capable of making someone the Prime Minister,” Dahal clarified. “Singh has no political connections. My association with him is that of a helpless father of an ill daughter.”
Dahal also admitted that he finds it difficult to present himself differently in private and public events.
“I take this opportunity for self-criticism. It has motivated me to be more cautious in the future,” he added.
