Withdraw decision to drop case against Chalaune’s attackers: Bhattarai

KATHMANDU: Member of the House of Representatives and CPN (UML) Secretary, Yogesh Kumar Bhattarai, has demanded the immediate scrapping of the decision to withdraw the case against the people involved in the attack on Associate Professor Prem Chalaune

Speaking in the House of Representatives on Wednesday, Bhattarai said the government has promoted impunity by deciding to withdraw the case against people involved in the attempted murder case. “How could the Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Dhanraj Gurung, who always stands for righteousness, sign the decision to withdraw the case?” he questioned.

Bhattarai said parties like the Nepali Congress and UML, which are entrusted with the responsibility of nation-building, should not create a situation that promotes impunity.

“Please, withdraw this decision and respect your past commitments, norms, and values,” he said.
