KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) went down by 26.56 points to close at 2,064.83 points.
The benchmark index had broken a nine-day gaining streak on Monday when it closed 2.94 points lower.
Although the market had posted gains initially, climbing above the 2,100-point psychological level to reach an intra-day high of 2,117.2 points, it fell thereafter to close to day 1.27% lower.
Except for Investment, Manufacturing & Processing, and Trading, all other sub-groups ended the day in red with the maximum loss coming from Finance Index which was down by 3.7%. Life Insurance and Others sub-indices were down by 2.75% and 2.43%, respectively.
Prices of 193 scrips declined on the day, while 29 advanced. Unit prices of two scrips remained unchanged. Nepal Infrastructure Bank Ltd recorded the highest turnover with Rs 205.75 million worth of shares traded on the day. Next on the list were Shivam Cement and Himalayan Distillery with turnovers of Rs 194.42 million and Rs 135.99 million, respectively.
A total of 10.79 million units of shares worth Rs 4.11 billion were traded in the secondary market on Tuesday. Total market capitalization reached Rs 3.2 trillion.
