KATHMANDU: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) index went up by 21.29 points on Monday to close the day’s trading at 1904.45 points.
The market opened for trading at 1,883.16 points. Though the market dipped initially, it made a comeback at noon and remained more or less at the same level before making a rally in the final trading hour to eventually end the day 1.13% higher.
All the trading groups posted gains on the day. Manufacturing and Processing group was the biggest mover of the day posting a gain of 3.13%. Finance and Others sub-indices were next on the list logging gains of 2.71% and 2.33%, respectively.
Taragaon Regency Hotel Ltd was the biggest gainer of the day as its share price increased by 9.84%. Saptakoshi Development Bank Ltd and Buddha Bhumi Nepal Hydropower Company Ltd came next as their share prices inched up by 8.39% and 7.29%, respectively. Shivam Cements Ltd was at the top in terms of total turnover. Shares worth Rs 109.64 million of the cement producer were traded on the day. Himalayan Distillery Limited and Ngadi Group Power Ltd were next on the list with total turnovers of Rs 89.90 million and Rs 78.35 million, respectively.
Shares worth Rs 946.08 million were traded in the market through 17,765 transactions on the day. Total market capitalization stood at Rs 2.74 trillion.
