‘A’ Division League: ANFA faces criticism over lack of water for players

KATHMANDU: The ongoing Martyrs Memorial ‘A’ Division League has seen several complaints regarding the unmanaged calendar, lack of proper rest for players, and poor refereeing quality. The latest addition to the list is the lack of drinking water for players.

Head Coach Meghraj KC of Three Star Club complained that his team did not receive sufficient drinking water during their goalless draw with Church Boys United on Monday.

“We did not receive sufficient water. We understand that ANFA may not be in a financially comfortable situation. However, if they were unable to provide water on match days, they should have informed us beforehand. We could have found sponsors to help,” stated KC. “This situation should not occur in any league around the world.”

As the match was played on a hot afternoon, the demand for water was naturally high. However, when Three Star’s officials approached ANFA after the allocated water had finished, ANFA officials informed them that there was no more water available.

Officials from Three Star and ANFA even exchanged heated words regarding the issue after the match.

Church Boys continues unbeaten run

Church Boys United extended its unbeaten run in the top flight by playing its sixth draw of the season against Three Star Club on Monday.

The top-flight debutant had won its first three games against Nepal Police Club, Khumaltar Youth Club, and Himalayan Sherpa. However, in the subsequent six games, Church Boys United managed only draws. Despite dominating the field against Three Star, the team could not capitalize on their dominance, even after making six attractive moves in the first half alone.

Church Boys United continued to dominate in the second half as well but was unable to score a goal against Three Star Club.

Similarly, Three Star Club also had a couple of chances in the second half but was unable to find the back of the net.

After nine games, Church Boys United sits fourth on the table with 15 points, while Three Star Club is placed fifth with the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference. Manang Marshyangdi and Sankata Club, in the third and sixth positions respectively, also have 15 points.

Jawalakhel Youth Club is currently leading the table with 17 points, while Satdobato Football Club is in second place with the same number of points but with an inferior goal difference.
