KATHMANDU: Prime Minister and CPN (Maoist Center) Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal has assured leaders of his party organizations that the party would take needful initiatives to rename Koshi Province on the basis of identity.
Receiving a memorandum submitted by the organizations for renaming the Koshi Province, Dahal said the party won’t leave the agenda of identity.
“We have been fighting for the issue of identity. We will not give up this agenda,” he told the delegation of party leaders, according to Maoist Center leader Suresh Kumar Rai.
Dahal also urged party workers to involve in the protest with restraint.
Among others, sister organizations of the Maoist Center have requested the Prime Minister to resolve the situation created after the naming of the province and provide compensation to the next of kin of the youth who was killed during the protest.
Rai said party organizations have requested the party leadership to take ownership of the identity-based movement initiated by the party during the insurgency “The province was named Koshi province in a conspirative manner. It should be corrected,” Rai said.
