JANAKPURDHAM: Ministers from the CPN-UML in the Madhesh Province Government have submitted their resignation to Chief Minister Saroj Kumar Yadav.
Although the UML ministers had decided to step down on March 23 with the formation of a new coalition at the center, Janata Samajbadi Party (JSP), which is leading the ruling coalition in the province, had requested to not step down. The JSP had made the request, expecting the party’s support for its Chairman Upendra Yadav in by-election in the Bara-2 constituency of the House of Representatives to be held on April 23.
However, the UML refused to support Yadav and fielded its candidate Ram Chandra Neupane in the constituency.
Sources say JSP chairman Yadav instructed Chief Minister Yadav on Monday to ask the UML ministers to step down. The UML’s parliamentary party leader in the Madhesh Province Assembly, Saroj Kumar Yadav, told media persons that UML ministers were stepping down on the instruction of the Chief Minister.
The UML had four ministers and one minister of state in the province government. UML’s parliamentary party leader, Saroj Kumar Yadav, was sworn in along with Chief Minister Yadav on January 13th, while other ministers were appointed one month later.
