KATHMANDU: The Supreme Court has paved the way for Media Hub to broadcast FIFA World Cup 2022 matches in Nepal.

A division bench of Justices Prakash Kumar Dhungana and Manoj Kumar Sharma on Wednesday scrapped the temporary stay order issued earlier by the apex court to Media Hub to put all preparation to broadcast the matches on hold.

Media Hub, an advertisement agency, has acquired broadcasting rights for Nepal from Indian media and communication giant Viacom18 which holds the broadcasting rights for the Indian subcontinent.

Media Hub is broadcasting the FIFA World Cup matches on the Himalaya Premium channel which consumers can access by paying Rs 500 plus 13% VAT per setup box.

Advocates Kishor Bhattarai and Anupam Bhattarai had challenged the decision to levy extra fees on consumers at the apex court.
