KATHMANDU: Nepal Police is starting recruitment of temporary police personnel for the November 20 elections from September 15.
The police force has already received the go-ahead from the Ministry of Home Affairs to recruit 115,000 personnel for the election.
According to Nepal Police, it will publish vacancies for recruitment on September 15, giving interested youth one week to submit their applications.
Nepal Police Spokesperson Tek Prasad Rai told Himal Press that selection tests would be held on September 25, 27, 28, 29 and 30. The list of selected candidates will be published on October 11. They will then get an appointment letter on October 16 following which they will undergo a weeklong training.
After completing the training, they will be deployed in electoral constituencies together with the police personnel.
The government has already said that the temporary police personnel hired for the local body election held in March will get priority for recruitment.
The finance ministry has allocated Rs 5.86 billion for the recruitment of temporary police personnel. They will get a total package of nearly Rs 50,000 each including salary of 40 days, ration, uniform and allowances.
The temporary police personnel will pocket Rs 34,760 as salary and Rs 7,200 as ration. Likewise, those deployed in remote areas will receive a special allowance equivalent to the ration amount. They will get Rs 6,000 as uniform allowance. Those deployed in mountainous districts will get an additional Rs 1,000 for a jacket.
The police force plans to deploy 15,000 personnel in mountainous districts.
Likewise, temporary police personnel will get Rs 1,000 as transportation allowance and Rs 300 per day as tiffin allowances for four days.
