Passport distribution affected

KATHMANDU: The Department of Passport has said that it won’t be able to process new applications for passports until further notice.

Issuing a statement on Tuesday, the department said the passport distribution system has been affected due to a system failure. “We request that all concerned individuals do not visit the passport office until further notice,” Durapada Sapkota, a director of the department, said.

“However, applicants who have already booked an appointment can visit the office to provide biometrics,” she added.

This notice from the department came a few hours after Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal instructed concerned officials to immediately improve the passport distribution system.
