Left unity not possible immediately: Oli

KATHMANDU: CPN-UML Chairman KP Sharma Oli has ruled out the possibility of left unity immediately.

Speaking at a program organized on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Nepal Communist Party on Monday, Oli said left parties can reach to the point of party unification by fostering cooperation.

“If we unite right now, people will question why we split in the past after unification. Let’s move forward through consensus and cooperation for now. We will gradually get closer through cooperation and can reach the point of unity,” he added.

He also urged party leaders and cadres not to harbor thoughts that the left parties would unify immediately.

“It is not just the situation for leftists to unite and move forward. It is time for nationalist forces to unite. Those who advocate for the independence and freedom of the country, fight against corruption, and strive to fulfill the aspirations of the people – all those forces must unite,” he added.

Stating that the current government will solve the problems of the people, he urged the coalition partner parties to embark on a campaign to end poverty.
