KATHMANDU: Few yarsagumba collectors are feared to have gone missing in an avalanche at Baling near Chhangru in Byash Rural Municipality-1 of Darchula district on Tuesday.
“We have received reports about the avalanche. However, we currently have no further information,” Mangal Singh Dhami, Chairperson of Byash Rural Municipality, told Himal Press over phone.
According to Dhami, the location where the avalanche is believed to have struck is frequently visited by yarsagumba collectors.
A 30-member team from the Border Outpost Office (BPO) of the Armed Police Office has been dispatched to the region for search and rescue purposes. Baling is a three-hour trek from the BPO in Chhangru to Baling, according to Dhami.
