Woman arrested on charge of dumping newborn in aircraft toilet

KATHMANDU: Police have arrested a 28-year-old woman for investigation after the body of a newborn was found in the toilet of an Air Arabia aircraft at Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu on Thursday.

The Airbs A320 aircraft of Air Arabia took off from Sharjah and landed at the airport at 9:05 am. Police launched an investigation after cleaning staff found the body in the commode and reported the airport security.

According to police, preliminary investigation showed the woman was returning from Kuwait.

SP Padam Raj Bhatta, the spokesperson for the TIA Security Office, said that the woman was taken into custody from the customs. Gauhsala Police Circle is investigating the case.
