KATHMANDU: Nagarik Unmukti Party Chairperson Ranjita Shrestha has said that her party won’t give its vote of confidence to Chief Minister of Sududrpashchim Province Rajendra Singh Rawal.
Talking to media persons on Tuesday, Shrestha said the party took the decision as the ruling coalition is not showing any concern towards their demands.
“The coalition has failed to create an environment to give our vote of confidence to the Chief Minister,” Shrestha said. “We supported the UML leader Rawal to form the government after the coalition assured to address our demands. Since it is doing nothing to this end, we cannot give him vote of confidence.”
Rawal, who was appointed Chief Minister on January 11, is scheduled to take the floor test on Wednesday. Rawal’s government will fail if Nagarik Unmukti, which has seven seats in the province assembly, doesn’t give its vote of confidence.
Among others, Nagarik Unmukti has been demanding for the immediate release of its founding president Resham Chaudhary and other leaders and cadres convicted in the Tikapur incident.
The party has also demanded the immediate release of member of House of Representatives, Arun Kumar Chaudhary, who was sent to jail last week on the charge of setting a tractor on fire a decade ago.
