KATHMANDU: The United States has delivered additional humanitarian and disaster response assistance to Nepal following the devastating Bhotekoshi floods on August 26.
Two US military cargo aircraft delivered 5,000 specialized disaster victim recovery supplies, 500 first-aid kits, stretchers and front-end loaders on Wednesday to support search, rescue and recovery operations, according to the US Embassy in Kathmandu.
The embassy said the assistance was provided in response to requests from the Government of Nepal.
The latest delivery comes in addition to the $3.6 million in US assistance previously announced for the flood response.
“The rapid delivery reflects the enduring US-Nepal partnership and our shared commitment to helping affected communities through this disaster,” the embassy said in a social media post.
Minister for Science, Technology and Innovation Mahabir Pun received the supplies on behalf of the Government of Nepal at the Tribhuvan International Airport in Kathmandu.
