KATHMANDU: US Embassy in Kathmandu on Wednesday welcomed 55 members of the 2023 cohort of the US Embassy Youth Council Nepal to the US Mission family.
US Ambassador to Nepal Dean R Henderson, Public Affairs Chief Garrett Wilkerson, and Cultural Affairs Officer Sarah Knight welcomed the new USYC members who represent Nepal’s diverse social, religious, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds. According to the embassy, the new USYC members will work on projects to help support their local communities.
During their 12-month tenure, council members have networking opportunities, work on community engagement projects, and attend important events.
“Through various sessions, they got an opportunity to learn more about US public diplomacy programming, the mutually beneficial relationship between the US and Nepal, social media’s role in amplifying social issues, and the roles and responsibility of the USYC members in helping create a democratic, prosperous and inclusive Nepal,” the US Embassy in Kathmandu wrote in its social media post.
