KATHMANDU: CPN (United Socialist) has demanded that the government release the report submitted by the commission formed to investigate the killing of two youths during a demonstration in Balkumari of Lalitpur.
A meeting of the Secretariat Committee of the party took the decision following calls from all quarters to recall Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Prakash Jwala from the government.
The probe commission said in its report that Minister Jwala’s negligence was one of the contributing factors to the deaths of the two youths.
Birendra Shah of Achham and Sujan Rawat of Dailekh lost their lives on December 29 after the police used force to contain the protest by South Korean job aspirants in Balkumari of Lalitpur. The protesters also touched Minister Jwala’s car on the day.
“The party will decide on whether to recall Minister Jwala from the government after studying the report,” Jagannath Khatiwada, chief of the party’s central public department, said.
The meeting also discussed the current political situation of the country, reviewed work progress according to the government’s policies and programs, and the march of loan shark victims to Kathmandu, among other topics, according to Khatiwada.
